AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF ORTHODONTISTS (AAO) FORMS EXCLUSIVE ENDORSEMENT AGREEMENT WITH BLACK TALON

AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF ORTHODONTISTS (AAO) FORMS EXCLUSIVE ENDORSEMENT AGREEMENT FOR IT and CYBER SECURITY WITH BLACK TALON SECURITY

Katonah, NY: Black Talon Security, the leading provider of cyber security solutions for the dental market, has received an exclusive endorsement to provide advanced cybersecurity, HIPAA compliance and PCI solutions to the members of the American Association of Orthodontists in order to protect their critical infrastructure and patient records from cyberattacks. The AAO is the world’s oldest and largest dental specialty organization and represents approximately 19,000 orthodontists.

The healthcare security landscape is rapidly changing and now, more than ever, businesses and practices are being targeted by cyber criminals in order to exploit electronic protected health information (ePHI) for the use of identity theft, ransom and blackmail.

“The AAO is excited to announce this new partnership with Black Talon Security. With cyberattacks on the rise, we want to ensure our members have a trusted resource for addressing these concerns as well as other challenges they may face regarding HIPAA and payment card industry compliance. In working with Black Talon, we believe we are offering AAO members an exclusive service that will work to protect their patients and their business” --Lynne Thomas Gordon, CEO of the AAO.

“We are extremely excited about this endorsement and the opportunity to work with the AAO and their Members. We have extensive experience in the dental and security communities which allows us to provide solutions that will further minimize the risk of a cyberattack in an orthodontic practice. We want to prevent cyberattacks by identifying and eliminating vulnerabilities on their networks. With this partnership, we will be able to provide an additional level of security and confidence to the orthodontic community as a whole” – Gary Salman, CEO Black Talon Security.

Practitioners should not assume that their IT company can effectively protect their network. Many IT companies may not have the training, tools or certifications required to protect an orthodontic practice from this new epidemic of threats being launched. In addition, firewalls and anti-virus software are no longer enough to protect a network from these cyber criminals.
